About Our School

Rock Run Elementary, Phone: 641-648-6420

Rock Run Elementary School serves approximately 250 students in grades three through five. Principal Mike Swartzendruber provides building leadership. Rock Run strives to create a positive and caring environment for all students. We believe that all our students can be successful and challenged at their academic level. Our staff works to help our students take ownership of their learning and move beyond the facts and make connections between what is learned here at school and the student's own lives. Rock Run is a Leader in Me school focusing on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Students:

Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Thing First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Habit 6: Synergize
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

Each student is encouraged to do the very best they can. Parent and community involvement is a critical component of Rock Run's success. Parents can participate in the Parent Teacher organization, the Parent Advisory group, be a mentor, or volunteer to assist in the classroom.

Rock Run uses Leadership Notebooks to monitor student progress and communicate important information. Parents are asked to check the Leadership Notebook notebook daily for homework and important documents and school communication.
