Iowa Falls and Alden Schools will continue to participate in a state-sponsored communication program entitled, Iowa Alerts.

Iowa Alerts provides another means by which parents, community members, and other interested persons can be notified

when our schools have a delayed start, released early, or cancelled due to adverse weather.

Participation in the Iowa Alerts program is free.

It's easy to receive notices through the Iowa Alerts program. Interested persons can subscribe by going to the

designated website (https://schoolalerts.iowa.gov/) and create an account by clicking on the "Sign Up!" link.

Once the account is created, notices can be received via e-mail, cell phones, or e-mail capable PDAs. There is no

limit to the number addresses in the account.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR IF-A SENIORS:
As you enter the final semester of your high school career, it is very important that you complete
all the steps that are needed for you to attend the college of your choice next fall.  A big step is,
how are you going to pay for your college education.  We are very fortunate at the Iowa Falls-Alden
High School to have a very supportive community who value higher education.  There are many
local scholarships that are supported by families, community organizations and local corporations.
All seniors need to check out our scholarship link   Please be sure to check on deadlines and other
details covered in the scholarship.  Make sure all information is done neatly and completely and
do not leave anything blank.  Also, make sure that you meet the criteria for the award.  Another
step in the process is that all students who are going on to higher education, need to fill out the
Federal Financial Aid Form, also known as the FAFSA.  The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid and is required for all federal financial aid.  It may also be required for state aid and
awards from the college or university you wish to attend.  The FAFSA application can be completed
online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov  anytime after January 1, 2012 **You will need to have your income
taxes completed to fill out the FAFSA form.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Carr or Mrs. Rieber at the
High School Guidance Office (641) 648-6440.
